Trucking That Brings You Home — Every Single Time

Maryland's family-first carrier, built by drivers who know what the industry gets wrong — and decided to fix it.

What Homestead Carriers Is

A trucking company that puts drivers and their families first — not miles, not margins, not management.

The industry has spent decades treating CDL-A drivers as numbers on a dispatch sheet. Long hauls with no notice, broken promises on home time, benefits designed for someone else's family. We built Homestead Carriers because we believed there was a better way to run a trucking operation — one that starts with the people behind the wheel.

Maryland-based

Rooted in the Mid-Atlantic, running regional and long-haul freight across the East Coast.

Driver-designed

Our scheduling, benefits, and policies are shaped by the drivers who live them — not executives who don't.

Family-accountable

We measure success not just by loads delivered, but by dinners made and kids' games attended.

Why We Exist

The industry I wanted didn't exist. So I built it.

I've seen what the big carriers do to good drivers. The 3 a.m. calls. The canceled home time. The benefits that look great on paper and disappear when you actually need them. The sense that you're just a warm body in a seat, interchangeable, replaceable.

That's not how any person should feel about going to work. And it's especially not how a driver with a family should feel.

Homestead Carriers exists because I believe a driver who comes home feeling respected is a better driver, a better partner, a better parent — and yes, a more reliable operator on the road. This company was built around that belief, not around quarterly loads.

The Driver Promise

What it actually feels like to drive with us

Home Time

You know when you're coming home. So does your family.

We run regional routes built around real home time — not "home time pending loads." When we tell you Tuesday, we mean Tuesday. Your family deserves a schedule they can count on, and so do you.

Your Input Matters

Your experience shapes how we run this company.

We built the schedule, the benefits structure, and the dispatch model by asking drivers what they actually needed — not what HR said they needed. Your feedback doesn't go into a suggestion box. It goes into policy.

The Culture

No rookie games. No mystery deductions. No disrespect.

We're direct about pay, transparent about routes, and honest when something changes. You'll never have to chase down an answer. The people running this company have driven trucks — they know what it's like, and they haven't forgotten.

How It Works

From first conversation to first load — here's exactly what happens

No vague "we'll be in touch." No six-week onboarding black box. Here's the real process, in plain language.

You reach out — we have a real conversation

Not a form that disappears into a database. Not a recruiter reading a script. You'll speak with someone who runs freight and understands what you're leaving behind at your current job. We want to know where you stand — and we'll tell you honestly where we stand too.

We match you to routes that fit your life

Regional or OTR? Two nights out or five? Drop-and-hook or live unload? We talk through what your family situation looks like — kids' schedules, partner's work, what home time actually means to you — and find the run that works. Then we show it to you in writing before you say yes.

Onboarding that doesn't waste your time

Paperwork is real, but we'll walk through every document and explain what you're signing. Benefits enrollment is day one — not after a 90-day trial that quietly extends. You'll leave onboarding knowing exactly what your first week looks like.

You drive. We hold up our end.

Your dispatcher has your back. Pay is what we said it would be. Home time is what we agreed. And when something changes — because freight is freight, and things happen — you'll hear it from us directly, not through silence. That's the deal, and we mean it.

What You Get

Real benefits. Straight talk. No fine print surprises.

We built this list by asking drivers what they actually needed — then making sure we could deliver it before we listed it. Nothing here is aspirational. This is what joining Homestead looks like.

Apply to drive with us
  • Predictable home time, in writing

Your schedule is agreed before your first load. Regional routes mean most drivers are home multiple nights per week. We put home time commitments in your work agreement — not just in the recruiter pitch.

  • Benefits that start when you start

Health coverage, paid time off, and other benefits begin on day one of employment — not after a waiting period designed to protect us at your expense.

  • Pay that matches what was promised

No mystery deductions, no rate games at load assignment. We talk through pay structure before you sign — and your stub reflects what we agreed. Questions on your pay get a direct answer, not a runaround.

  • A dispatcher you can actually talk to

You have one point of contact who knows your route, knows your life, and picks up the phone. Not a call center. Not a ticket system. A person who has time for you.

  • Owner-operator partnerships with consistent loads

If you run your own authority, we're building a freight partner relationship — not a one-time broker move. Consistent Mid-Atlantic lanes, straight talk on rates, and a company that pays on time.

Honest Answers

The questions burned drivers actually ask

We're not going to answer the questions that make us look good. Here are the ones that matter.

Every carrier promises home time. Why should I believe you?

That's the right question, and we expect it. The difference is that at Homestead, home time commitments go into your work agreement in writing — not just in a recruiter conversation. We also run primarily regional routes in the Mid-Atlantic, which means the math on home time actually works. We won't promise daily home time on an OTR run. We'll tell you what a specific route actually looks like.

What routes do you run? Am I going to end up driving coast to coast?

We focus on Mid-Atlantic and East Coast regional freight. Most of our runs keep drivers within a reasonable range of Maryland. We discuss specific lanes during our initial conversation — before you make any commitment — so you know exactly what you'd be driving before you sign.

I've heard the 'family-first' pitch before. What's actually different here?

Most companies say family-first and mean it as a marketing line. We mean it as an operating principle. Scheduling decisions are made with driver home time as a real constraint, not an afterthought. When a load comes up that would break a driver's home commitment, we find another solution — not another driver. That takes more work on our end, and we think it's worth it.

What does pay look like? I'm tired of vague numbers.

We'll give you specific numbers during your conversation — pay structure, rate per mile or per load, any detention policies, and how layover pay works. Nothing is hidden. We walk through a real example of a typical week's pay before you decide anything.

Do you work with owner-operators?

Yes. We're building owner-operator partnerships with consistent Mid-Atlantic lanes and straightforward rate agreements. If you run your own authority, we want a real business relationship — steady loads, clear expectations, and on-time payment. Reach out and we'll talk specifics.

What if I have questions once I'm on the job?

You have a direct dispatcher who knows your name, your route, and your situation. You're not calling a 1-800 number. You're calling a person who's expecting to hear from you. If something changes on our end that affects your run, you hear it directly and promptly — not through a message board update.

Come home every night knowing it was worth it.

If you're a CDL-A driver ready for a carrier that treats you like a person, or an owner-operator looking for a consistent freight partner in the Mid-Atlantic, let's talk. No commitment. No script. Just a real conversation.

No obligation. We'll talk through what you need and whether we're a fit.
